Intercounty Connector (ICC)

AGWG remains committed to minimizing the negative impacts of the Intercounty Connector. Final plans include an interchange at Layhill Road with ramps extending from Park Vista nearly to Longmead, which will turn Layhill Road into a major conduit of traffic for this six-lane toll road.

Check this page often for the latest news and notice of events where your participation can make a difference. State officials Mike Lennett, Roger Manno, Henry Heller and Council President Praisner have been active in representing our concerns, and will continue to do so as construction proceeds. Direct your questions or comments to AGWG's ICC Task Force Chair, Ernst Benjamin.

SHA Rules Section A of ICC Will Open Early

The SHA notified AGWG of its decision to open Section A of the ICC prior to its entire completion and build a temporary spur spilling Section A traffic onto Norbeck (Rt. 28) near Wintergate. The SHA does intend to widen Norbeck, but only in the area immediately surrounding the spur's ramp.

The decision also does not address the expected increase in traffic on Layhill Road from Norbeck to Bel Pre, which will be sharing the road with heavy construction equipment. Below are links to the SHA's official response and details surrounding the placement and construction of the spur, in addition to an explanation of their traffic and air studies. June 24, 2008
